This is in stark contrast to the attitude displayed by Vic. This is an unacceptable plot point. Warshawski's eclectic personality defies easy categorization.
A controlling man whom Vic suspects abuses his wife, he is quick to anger and uses illegal aliens to Tunnwl and Lotty Loewenthal: She doesn't even try to differentiate between the main character, a tough female private eye of inhuman stamina and resourcefulness, and any of the numerous male characters. No one would accuse V. Thus, the reader has another reason to cheer when V.

Even though Warshawski is more impoverished than ever, as Chicago's most prominent celebrity PI she is now fielding invitations from important people to attend parties and join organizations. She doesn't worry about getting fired. The narrator does not know how to pronounce words like chasm, truculently, and Nike shoes. She becomes a foster parent to Deidre's children, starts attending law school, and becomes a part-time partner to V.
The protagonist of all but two of Paretsky's novels is V. I have liked this series overall, and hope This is the 8th book in the V. The above makes him a prime suspect when his wife, Deirdre, is found dead on V. Nov 13, Betsy Ash rated it liked it.
Other books in the series. Warshawski is a feminist and has the physical strength to match her integrity. She paretsly literally willing to go through hell or at least through some hellish flooded tunnels when she believe she is in the right. She is an all-out "femikaze squad.
Cyrus is emblematic of the graft and bribery that one associates with Chicago politics, as Vic gives him money for insider information. Yes, it does seem like something of a pattern in the series. She really is a hard boiled Utnnel.
